Hart County Busted Mugshots is not a government office. It cannot confirm whether a person is in custody, say when someone will be released, retrieve an official booking record, or change a court or sheriff record. Use the routing below for the agency that holds the answer. Hart County Sheriff's Office handles county custody and requests, local police departments hold their own incident records, and the court clerk holds filed case material and dispositions.

This private reference service cannot confirm custody or release, pull a booking photo, file an open-records request for a visitor, or give legal advice. A charge or booking photo is an accusation record, not a conviction. Contact the originating office directly.

Hart County Sheriff's Office

The sheriff is the primary contact for current Hart County custody questions, county jail procedures, warrant inquiries, and sheriff-held records. The HCSO contacts page is the best place to check division details before calling.

Dispatch and non-emergency starting point

Hart County Jail

2825 Bowman Highway
Hartwell, GA 30643

Ask for the jail records custodian. Confirm current procedures before an in-person visit.

Use the sheriff's Open Records Request form for a specific booking record, custody or release record, or photo request. Include the person's name, date range, arresting agency, and case or inmate number when known. The form does not publish a Hart-specific photo fee or guaranteed completion time.

Hart County Court Records

The Hart County Clerk of Superior Court is the route for Superior Court criminal files, docket entries, and certified copies within its jurisdiction. The clerk's office is at 185 West Franklin Street, P.O. Box 386, Hartwell, GA 30643. The listed phone is 706-376-7189, email is frankie.gray@gsccca.org, and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Hart County Clerk says pending and closed criminal accusations and indictments are in its files. Online access uses a paid annual ICON subscription, while records may also be viewed at the clerk's office. For the statewide provider gateway, use Georgia eAccess to Court Records. Magistrate, Municipal, Probate, and Juvenile records can have different custodians and access rules.

City Police Departments

The arresting agency holds its own incident or arrest report. Ask that agency for the report, citation, and any agency-held image, then ask the receiving jail for the booking file. A city news story does not change who holds the original record.

Hartwell Police Department

456 East Howell Street
Hartwell, GA 30643

706-856-3226 non-emergency

Chief-office numbers listed by the city: 706-376-3111 and 706-856-3213.

Royston Police Department

830 Church Street
Royston, GA 30662

706-245-6195

Chief Brooks Moorhead is identified on the official RPD page.

Canon Police Department

5071 Highway 17
Canon, GA 30520

706-245-8155

Call Canon first to confirm the arresting jurisdiction and receiving jail.

Hartwell operates a municipal detention facility, Royston uses a Franklin County jail-service agreement, and Canon has no verified universal current receiving jail. A county roster search can therefore miss the first custody location for a city arrest.

Records Request Basics

Georgia's Open Records Act generally calls for a response within three business days. If records cannot be produced then, the agency should provide a written timetable, estimated cost, and statutory reason for withholding or redaction. No local booking-photo fee or guaranteed production time was published in the reviewed Hart forms.

  1. Send the request to the custodian that holds the record.
  2. Describe the person, date, agency, facility, and record type.
  3. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate.
  4. Request a booking photograph separately from an incident report.
  5. Use the court clerk for the final disposition.

For the legal framework and current state guidance, use the Georgia Attorney General's open-records request information. A request can be answered with redactions or a statutory denial. The custodian, not this private service, makes that decision.

Other Custody Systems

Use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search for adult state-corrections custody. Use the Bureau of Prisons or ICE for their distinct federal and immigration custody systems. Those locators do not answer a current Hart County Jail question and do not replace the local records custodian.

For immediate danger, call 911. For a Hart warrant question, start with sheriff dispatch. For a court result, contact the clerk. For a city incident report, contact the arresting police department. Those routes keep the request with the agency that can actually respond.
